The
bountiful breakfasts are as tasty as they are beautifully
presented, with fresh tropical fruits, savory omelets, black
rice pudding (a Balinese specialty), yogurt lassies, and
full-bodied, locally-grown coffee and tea. Pure artesian
spring water is always available in abundance. The cook
is well-versed in preparing Italian, American and vegetarian
food, but her forte is creating dishes that are a delicious
and healthy interpretation of Thai, Chinese, Malaysian,
and regional Indonesian fare. Breakfasts are included, but
lunches and dinners may be arranged at a reasonable cost.
The
second floor is comprised of a sunken open-air living
room with a "conversation tent" which can
double as a sleeping area. A more formal sitting lounge
with rattan sofas and a dining room with expandable
teak table seats 8 comfortably. For technophiles, there
is a TV, video player, and stereo on this level.
An attached, galley-style
kitchen has another dining area, and a large lounging
nook overlooking a pond can also double as a sleeping
area. A small guest bath is just off the dining room.
Rental
of any the above rooms includes the use of the entire
second level. The Pelangi Suite includes Satellite
TV, DVD, VHS-VCR, two sound systems with outdoor speaker
options, IDD telephone (for use with renter's own
calling card), fax, a safe for stowing valuables,
and a library stocked with novels and travel guides
(even the owner's own tips). A generator is on the
premises for use in the event of power failure. Ample
off-street parking and a garage are provided.
The staff includes
a maid and a cook, a night watchman, a gardener, two
watchdogs, two cats, and two parakeets (those with
animal phobias or allergies are forewarned).
Insects are minimized by the more temperate inland climate,
but guests my be serenaded by frogs and visited by bevies
of fireflies and an occasional gecko lizard in the evenings.
For homebody-types, the resident cats and friendly guardian
dogs will happily offer companionship. The laughter of children
playing in the river and the beauty of nature's display will
provide endless entertainment.
